Things Your Massage Therapist Wants You To Know

Things Your Massage Therapist Wants You To Know

1. They don’t care if you shaved or not.

They are not there to criticize you and it doesn’t make a difference on the massage your going to get. Also ladies your massage therapist also takes male clients and they have at times 10 times more hair then you do.  So if you haven’t shaved it’s not a big deal.

2. They give you stretches for a reason. Just do it!

The stretches they give you are designed to help you resolve pain and is maintenance for your bodies health.  Many people would like to get a massage everyday but unless you have a spouse who will do it for you or you have lots of money that’s not going to happen.  When you are not with your therapist you are responsible for your health.

And to be honest there is not reason you can’t do 5 minutes of stretching a day.  I found the best times for me are either in the morning when I get up or right before bed.

3. Your body is beautiful the way it is.

Again no one is going to criticize you.  You are working with trained professionals who see hundreds of people and none of them look like they have been cut out of a magazine.  The only condition they care about when it comes to your body is if you are healthy.

4. They are massage therapists. NOT MASSEUSES

Many people don’t realize this but never call your massage therapist a “masseuse.”  Reason being masseuse is associated with under the table“happy ending” type massage.  Which they do not do, and some therapists get very offended.

5. Don’t be embarrassed about your booty.

Your glutes are made up of 3 muscles and if your having pain in your lower back sometimes it’s associated with your glutes being tight.

6. Don’t undrape yourself

Massage Therapists are legally required to follow draping protocols to protect you and ourselves. We only undrape the area being massaged at that time, then redrape fully, before undraping any other areas. Please keep yourself covered.

7. Bodily functions are normal.

Massage is known to help aid in digestion and help you relax. So it’s only natural that you may pass some gas once or twice.  But if you feel like it’s going to be a stinky one please excuse yourself to the restroom.
