Massage has a long and rich history, dating back thousands of years. Evidence of massage has been found in ancient civilizations such as China, Egypt, Greece, and India, where it was used for a variety of purposes including pain relief, relaxation, and therapeutic purposes.

Massage has a long history in China, with evidence of its use dating back over 4,000 years. Ancient Chinese texts, such as the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, mention the use of massage for healing and therapeutic purposes. In traditional Chinese medicine, massage was used to improve circulation, relieve pain and stiffness, and promote overall health and wellness.

Throughout Chinese history, massage was also used as a form of preventative medicine and was often performed by medical professionals. In addition, massage was considered an important aspect of personal grooming and was often performed by specialized therapists in bathhouses and other public venues. Today, massage continues to play an important role in traditional Chinese medicine and is widely practiced throughout China and other countries influenced by Chinese culture.

Ancient Egyptian tombs and texts contain evidence of massage being used for therapeutic purposes, such as the relief of pain, stress, and muscle tension. The Egyptians also believed in the healing power of touch and used massage as a form of preventative medicine to maintain good health and prevent illness.

In ancient Egypt, massage was performed by specialized therapists and was often incorporated into religious ceremonies. Massage was also used to prepare the body for mummification and was believed to help preserve the body for the afterlife.

In the 19th century, massage became popular in Western countries as a way to treat injuries and promote overall health and wellness. Today, massage is widely recognized as a form of alternative medicine and is practiced in many different cultures around the world.
